Freitag, 31.05. Anreisetag – Grüße aus Dublin!

Yesterday our study trip started in Bad Friedrichshall where some students took the train to the airport in Stuttgart. After two hours on the train, two and a half hours of flight and after a little bus breakdown in the center of Dublin, we finally arrived at our hostel. We had some free time to eat something with our group.

Today started with a lovely breakfast in the breakfast room. After eating we visited the city. Nico, Jonas and Simeon had to walk around the city and show us the attractions of Dublin.

In the afternoon we went on a kayaking trip on which we swam on the river Liffey, that crosses Dublin. After eating a delicious meal that was prepared by Jonas and Luis, some of the students had to give their presentations which each of us had to prepare for our Ireland trip. After this exhausting day, everyone went to bed and slept immediately.

Sonntag, 02.06.

Today our trip started really early in the morning. After we had breakfast at 5:45 we got onto our bus that brought us to the west coast of Ireland. Although we had to drive over three hours to the Cliffs of Moher, we had a great time while listening to our funny bus driver or some great Irish music.

As we were walking over the cliffs we had a fascinating view over the Atlantic Sea. For lunch, most of us, of course, ordered some fish ‘n chips in the little fisher village Doolin. Our last stop of the day was in the town “Galway”, which some may know from Ed Sheeran’s song “Galway Girl”. We learned about the history of the town and spent a great time there. After reaching Dublin in the evening again, we had dinner and went to bed

Montag, 03.06.

Today we took the bus to the capital city of Nothern Ireland called Belfast. Here we moved into a new hostel in which we are going to spend the nights for next the two days.

After checking in we went to the centre of Belfast in which Luise and Luis presented us some buildings and there we met the first guide of our political walking tour. Here we learned some things about the differences and separation between loyalists and protestants. The tour was very long, it took three hours and a lot of patience. But we also learned some interesting facts about the history of the island and that the peace process can‘t be finished until the generation that took part in the troubles, doesn‘t exist anymore.

Afterwards, we had some free time in which we went to eat something. After 17 km of walking, we went to the hostel where two students gave their presentation about Irish history and the Irish economy and went to sleep.

Dienstag, 04.06.

Today started with an interesting presentation about myths, legends, and symbols of Ireland. Among other things, we learned something about Giant’s Causeway, which we also visited this day.

After our short walk to the bus station, we drove for a while and had a few stops. First, we took some pictures at Carrickfergus Castle. Within our second stop, we visited Carrick-a-Rede where we took a walk and enjoyed the beautiful view. It was an adventurous tour because we had the chance to walk across the Carrick-a-Rede Rope bridge. For one moment we were directly over the ocean. After that exciting tour, we drove to Giants Causeway where we had time to enjoy the ocean. Last but not least we had a short stop at Dark Hedges where scenes of the series Game of Thrones were shot.

After that exhausting but interesting day, all of us were very tired. In the evening we had some free time in which we ate something and then went to bed.Eine Studienfahrt führt dieses Jahr nach IRLAND. Wir begleiten diese mit einer kleinen Bildergalerie.
